Performance

In an attempt to map out who she is and how her identity has been formed, Tova Mozard immerses herself in this new work into her subconscious. In two parallel events; one that happens in the room and one that is documented on film she is in an unbroken state for 3 hours, vulnerable and exposed. During the process, she comes across memories, questions and strong emotions connected to her mother and father, but also to her own parenting and role as an artist. Issues of inherited grief about what is passed on to the next generation and how to find oneself beyond all survival mechanisms are topics that are explored more deeply.

The moving images in this performance are also a part of  Tova Mozard’s upcoming feature film  GRACELAND produced by Mantaray Film

As part of The Unknown project, Tova Mozard presented a performance with Emma Broomé, Marall Nasiri and Omid Khansari. Many of Tova Mozard’s pictures illustrate her passion for one of the great questions of our time, the world between anonymity and fame. Mozart’s circle of motifs is often made up of individual people or situations that are filtered through the play. A symbiosis between reality and fiction where self-assumed or assigned roles question the conditions of reality. A subtle demarcation that creates a mystery in the image. A tension field between the private and the public.

The Urgency of Quiet & Cops Are Actors are two distinct performances that converge for one night only. Circling around the gaps between the body and the self–where rehearsal ends and performance begins–both pieces challenge the critical distance inherent in spectatorship. Cops Are Actors is choreographed and directed by Tova Mozard. Actors/Cops are Darnell Baldwin, Al Burke and Chuck Saale.
